The prosecutor of Tamaulipas, Irving Barrios, has communicated that an investigation has been initiated to clarify the arrest of José Luis Aranza Aguilar, the state delegate of IMSS. Aranza Aguilar was detained by the State Guard in Ciudad Victoria and released hours later. Barrios Mujica mentioned that the aim is to determine the veracity of the events that occurred during the inspection of the vehicle in which the IMSS official was traveling.
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the president, requested the Tamaulipas Prosecutor's Office to clarify the detention of the IMSS delegate in the state to determine if the reasons for the detention were valid. During a morning conference, Sheinbaum expressed that Aranza Aguilar claimed not to carry any illegal items and that the State Police were trying to incriminate him.
The State Security spokesperson informed that elements of the State Guard stopped a white RAM truck with plates from the State of Mexico that matched a robbery report. After an inspection, which was done with the consent of the occupants, no evidence of any crime was found inside the vehicle. Subsequently, the occupants were allowed to continue their journey as no irregularities were found in their background when verified in the Plataforma México system.
Although preliminary reports disseminated by local media indicated that Aranza Aguilar was detained in possession of a firearm and a considerable amount of cash, the authorities refuted this information.
